One day, while my daughter was doing some online shopping, she asked me if she could order me a pair of sunglasses. I immediately replied with excitement, “Yes.” I thought how awesome it would be to wear a pair of sunglasses selected by my teenager. After all, the sunglasses would be protecting my eyes from the sun in style. I could not wait to wear them.
The sunglasses arrived. The frames were red and accented with rhinestones. The lenses were red tint. I had never seen glasses like this & couldn’t wait for a sunny day so that I could wear them. The next day I put the sunglasses on, and everything looked different. I even felt off-balanced. The tint affected my perception, and it altered true colors. I couldn’t drive while wearing those sunglasses because my view was distorted or skewed; they changed my vision of reality. Not only was I a danger to myself, but I was also a danger to others.
Once I took off the sunglasses, I could see clearly. The false illusions were gone, and I no longer felt off-balanced. I learned, my perception affected my vision.
It showed me, the sunglasses were pretty but pointless. I did not need sunglasses with potential; I required sunglasses that would purposely protect my view and keep me in focus.
Don't become distracted with pointless stay focused and see your purpose.
